Tips On Using Your Facebook® Page to Help You Dominate Your Competitors

Take these steps in addition to what marketers generally recommend, such as getting likes to your page, etc.:

1. Study Strategy Overview.

2. Study the seven Strategy Steps.

3. Make sure you can separate your business from your competitors so you can make claims that your competitors cannot honestly make. If you cannot do this, you will need to study and apply Innovating Your Business. Should you decide to skip this step, do not expect your Facebook page to produce better results than the Facebook pages of your competitors.

Let us say, for example, that you have a medical practice and one of your strengths is an exceptional office staff that is responsive to your patients’ needs. Although waiting time is rarely more than a few minutes, the staff will take care of you while you wait with personal service. Your staff is instructed with a smile and warmth to walk out from behind the reception desk to their patients to let them know how long their wait will be, and to offer patients a soft drink (something healthy like water, juice or mineral water) or a snack (fruit or veggies). You also show old comedies on your large HD TV in reception that help reduce patients' stress or worry, and take their minds off how they feel, if they are ill.

4. Use emotional-hot-button-heavy headlines at the top of your Facebook page and as headings for at least some of your posts. (You should develop at least 15 headlines that you can use on your various posts)

5. Create posts that discuss what prospective clients need to know, and should look for and look out for in choosing your type of service. For the medical practice example, make it clear that it is important for their doctor's staff to keep waiting time to a minimum and be attentive to their patients' needs. It should not be tolerated if the front office staff sits behind a window and snap at you when asked when you will be seen 20 or 30 minutes beyond your appointment time.

6. Post claims about your services that your competitors cannot make. For the medical office example, discuss the different aspects of the level of customer service you provide patients from the moment they walk in the door.

7. Ask clients (or patients) to write testimonials on your Facebook page that back your claims. For example, in the medical office example, you want patients to write rave reviews about the front office staff's customer service.

8. Frequently write posts about your other exceptional strengths and repeat steps five through seven each time.

9. Promote discount or free introductory services for your Facebook friends and their families. For example, the doctor’s office could offer free health screenings on specific dates. Take photos of the actual events and post them on your page.
